There are several issues that can affect the Lagotto. Most of these issues can be avoided with health testing and careful breeding practices. In 2021 a litter should never be born with any of the big health issues such as JE, or Storage.
Hip Dysplasia, Patellas and Eye exams and DNA tests should be part of the normal screenings of any dog included in a breeding program
There has recently been considerable conversation about the environmental factors involved in Hip Dysplasia. We have chosen to implement some of this information in our effort to do everything we can to help prevent this health issue. Some of this includes; providing non slippery surfaces for puppies from birth to the time they leave our home, providing info on proper nutrition and weight management , contractually requiring spay and neuter to be done after a year unless a vet deems it medically necessary and never breeding any dog that does not have passing hip scores.
